     In Thailand, the name Patravadi is synonymous with the performing arts. It’s owner is Patravadi Mejudhon, a dynamic stage performer, scriptwriter and theatre director and producer, who for more than three decades has been a pioneering force in the local arts scene.

     In 1992, Patravadi founded an independent theatre. Since then, Patravadi Theatre has become widely known as an important venue for staging a variety of productions, ranging from classical to innovative and contemporary styles. Above all, the name Patravadi connotes an enduring commitment to developing and promoting the performing arts and performing artists in Thailand.

     The theatre is located on the western side of the famous Chao Phraya River in one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods. The historical setting, opposite the river from the Grand Palace and adjacent to the Royal Temple Wat Rakang, creates the perfect backdrop for Patravadi theatre’s unique fusion of traditional Thai and International styles.

     Visiting Patravadi theatre you will experience the Thai life and activities of the artists. Patravadi Theatre produces performances that are based on Thailand’s rich culture, skillfully combining Thai classical and folk techniques with international elements to create an entirely new style of contemporary Thai theatre.

     Patravadi Theatre also offers a variety of performances for special events from unique and intimate productions that will surprise your friends, to large theatrical spectacles performed in classical, modern or contemporary style. All productions are creatively designed and performed to the highest standard by Patravadi’s skillful team of actors, dancers and musicians.

     Thai classical dance classes take place every Saturday afternoon and drum classes on both Saturdays and Sundays. Foreigners are welcome to participate for 100 Baht per class for Thai classical dance and 150 Baht for drum classes.

     Every Sunday at 2 p.m. Patravadi Theatre stages Dhamma Theater with meditation and yoga classes following.

     Every Sunday evening enjoy health food in the restaurant while watching young talents practicing their acts on the open outdoor stage.

     Moreover, there are comfortable rooms and small apartments with kitchen in the compound if you would like to homestay in the theatre environment.
